Thanks for this. It's really worth learning to tie your boots properly. I have a friend who has done the rim-to-rim Grand Canyon a dozen times, and she wound up with black toes three times. She learned to tie her boots so that her foot wouldn't slip and her toes hit the end of her boot when she was climbing down. Ouch! She still goes every year.
