I am now committed: my Camino begins Sept 15 2017

AbbyDee

Court Jester
Time of past OR future Camino
In celebration of the 35th anniversary of my 25th year, I will begin my Camino in September 2017
I bought my ticket and I arrive at CDG on Sept 14th, then to SJPDP, and from there, I set out solo on the morning of the 15th.

I have run into people who wonder why I would undertake a journey of some 500 miles, on foot through the North of Spain. My response has always been: there comes a time in when one needs a greater challenge in one's life on all levels than slow room service.

Those who understand, understand. Those who don't, never will.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Enjoy YOUR camino, live in the now of this experience. Buen Camino.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hope to see you all along the way, not sure of my start date yet, but it will be sometime in early to mid September. I'll be one of those evil pilgrims on a bike, so I promise to ring my bell and get the first round of drinks at the bar!

Congrats AbbyDee!! I just booked my ticket too. Our Caminos have begun! It really is exciting. I am doing a two week walk and will start most likely in Astorga I have decided, and will be starting on August 21st or 22nd all things going well. I am now wondering how I will explain what I'm doing to other people. But as you say, people will either understand or they won't.

Buen Camino!!

I start on 16th.

I walked sept last year ... wish I was joining you this year .... think I am mad for NOT being there this year ...

Last year in my 60th year I met a gentleman in his somewhat older years than me .... I have forgotten the name of the place sadly .... but it was after a misty , windy climb where we all stopped for coffee ... he said my family said I am crazy doing this and I have never even so much as walked with a back pack before ...I thought that was fabulous myself :D.... so many people have limited views then they limit US !

I said : well it's like this : if I make it my family say how brave : if something happens it's well she was foolish ... :p rather be foolish and brave than never be adventurous

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
OMG all posters will be there ! ... should I quit my job and join you ... last year I loved it .... blood , sweat , tears ... literally .... I loved it .... not wanting to romanticise it ...... but yes .... I was happy through it all

Will look for you. I'll be the one with the hiking poles and back pack. (And blue "bucket hat" with Melbourne badge.

Except for the blue bucket hat (mine is a green "river guide model) that could be me (or any other of the 200 or so pilgrims) on that first day :) my backpack with have a Lion's Club patch along with the prerequisite Canadian Flag. I am sure that someone wrote in a book that all Canadians must display the flag when travelling abroad, and it has become law!

See you along the way!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I ran into similar attitudes when I announced my intentions to do the Camino. It was one of the best experiences of my life. My best advice, take it one day at a time, each day will be it's own adventure and all will be different and give you something different. A day doesn't pass that I don't think of my Camino pilgrimage. I intend, God willing, to go back again. May your experience be as good as mine. Buen Camino!!!

Perhaps we'll meet in Saint Jean, or beyond! Buen Camino!

Checked my hat again, it's not blue - it's black.

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
