Icelandair?

I see they have really cheap flights out of Minneapolis to Paris, for around $600. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Icelandair is GREAT.
Maybe a sleep-over on Iceland a couple of nights?

Never heard anything bad about them, apart from the obvious change of planes and the cost of living might be shocking if you stay there. Buen camino!

IcelandAir has a great reputation around here. Their main hub, Reykjavik, is small and well laid-out and easy to navigate. You can frequently get special fares that include a day or two layover in Iceland.

Charles de Gaulle Airport (Paris) is an entirely different story, however. If you are changing there, please allow at least 4 hours. There are several different terminals and sub-terminals; none are clearly labelled (you don't know where you are, you don't know where you're going, much less how to get there). Airport services (food and drink) are a bit skimpy as well.

Thank you for alleviating my fears about using them. (I was going to use them anyway because they are the cheapest fight)

I'm sure Iceland is a wonderful country but Camino fever has completely taken over me right now and the idea of delaying it even for a couple more days is more than I can bare. It's about all I can do to not just pack up and leave right now. Maybe on the way back though

My plan right now is to spend a day or 2 in Paris, doing all the Parisy stuff, like seeing the Eiffel Tower, eating croissants and whatnot, etc. And then, well, I haven't quite figured out exactly how to get down to St. Jean, but I'm sure there's a way. :wink:

Not really true anymore.
A double room with shared bath for €45- 50 in October. Getting to and from Iceland is expensive though!

When I was there a couple of years ago eating supper with friends in a fancy fish restaurant Fish Market Ben Stiller was there with friends (not that I am a great fun of his).

I stand corrected. I know it always had a reputation for being pricey for drinks in bars etc. Buen Camino!

I too have a good experience with Icelandair to/from the US a couple of times.

Fairly small airport in Reykjavik in Iceland, but their Icelandic handknitted sweaters in the taxfree are to die for (but, of course - this is off the camino topic, sorry!). Probably not an option on your way to the camino, but maybe if coming back again through Reykjavik? Have a look when passing through there on your way to Paris. Buen camino.
