2012 Camino Frances 2017 Camino del Norte
Decided to do the Camino Frances. Travel arrangements made. Will arrive at SJPP on 25/4/12.

Equipment: so far have bought one pair of wool socks and a pair of liners (smartwool as advised by anniesantiago). £25 from online shop ! Tried on a pair of meindl Borneo boots as someone advised- far too big and heavy for my skinny ankles. Found a shop selling newbalance trainers- seemed to fit very well, one and half size bigger than normal. Have ordered on line a pair of newbalance country walkers - normal size. Will try them out first. Got my eye on a lowealpine bag.
Other preparation: Constantly reading this forum. Have bought Brierley guide and CSJ guide. Minimum 5km walk everyday. Took a longer country walk the other evening with small backpack. (Got quite hot and sweaty and little pain in right knee.) Some soulsearching as to my motivation- Why ?
Not really excited yet, more worried and anxious. Do I really know what I'm letting myself in for ?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Greetings, Softie!
I am arriving in SJPP on April 23, and will start walking on the 24th. Look for me along the way. Short woman with red backpack, a forum patch, and a Teddy bear filled with prayer requests:)

Just walk at your own pace, one foot in front of the other.
Have no expectations except to have a wonderful Camino!

Do not panic about getting a bed or finding food.
Trust the Camino will provide.
Do not be afraid to dump extra weight - anything you need will be available along the Way.

Do not be afraid to call a taxi or pay for private lodging if you need a break.

Remember, this is YOUR Camino, as Sil says.

My only other advice is to take the first stage from SJPP to Roncesvalles in TWO days, stopping at Orisson . You should email and make a reservation.

Buen Camino!
Can't wait to hear all about it!

I'm going too but nottil next year...in the mean time I read the posts on the incredible site. ANNIESANTIAGO Just wrot the most beatiful words of encouragement i have read so far! I want to print it and keep it somewhere to see everyday.

To anyone going ...remember those words "trust el camino...it will provide everything you need".

Thank you Anniesantiago!

To Annie Santiago

Dear Annie,

Sorry for the delay in replying ! Thanks for all your advice. I did have a wonderful Camino- almost a year ago now - still can't stop thinking about it.

I did stay at Orisson too which was the right thing for me.

Paul

You are so lucky that you are have decided to go and are on your way soon.

I too have decided to do this trek but am only in the early stages of learning what is necessary to complete it.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
Hi, A couple years ago I flew into Geneva and took a train to Laussane to begin my Francigena. Next year I would like to fly into Geneva and walk the south side - France into Aigle, Switzerland...
