I am arriving in Bayonne from Dublin on September 5th at around 3:30. I am travelling alone. My concerns are for my late arrival in SJDPP. I would like to make it as far as Roncesvalles the next day to save days should I need them later on on the camino. Is it possible to have breakfast very early in the morning. What time should I start out as I would not like to walk too far in darkness.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your decision to walk the camino_On day 1 from St Jean- Roncesvalles you will have a choice of 2 routes if the weather allows the higher route ( Napoleon ) is worth the extra effort. If you have done some training , have the correct size pack and a reasonable level of fitness day 1 is very doable.Start walking with all the other new people about 8 am walk at your own pace and take it easy to start with the first 3 hours are mainly uphill, carry only 1 litre of water there are fountains on the way. Take in the beauty and enjoy the walk you will feel elated when you reach Roncesvalles and now that there is a new albergue you will not have to sleep in a bedroom with 119 other peregrinos.
Bien Camino

Hi Carrauntoohill.
If you had been landing a day earlier then we could have shared our concerns. I actually asked basically the same question a week or so ago. Got some good replies too if you want to look back for "Landing late in Biarritz". Theres ways around everything. You will find the best course of action with a bit of research on this forum.Best of luck and if you really leg it we might meet.... Jimmy

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
