Hi Peregrinos
Just back from first Camino, the Portuguese Route. Originally planned lift-off from Porto, but circumstances obliged wife and I to cut and re-launch from Valenca. Wonderful experience, unmissable, fascinating people, varied route and terrain.
Monitored this forum since 4th May__quality of advice like curate’s egg, mostly excellent. Sincere thanks to you all.

Lessons learned ____eat enough tortillas and you begin to look like same; most useful peregrino language ……..German; blankets available in some albergues_but may need to ask and pay; YOU do NOT need to be fit ….am 56 lbs ( 25 kgs) overweight; high blood pressure…forget it; age…forget that too…am well into seventies.
Take it from the heaviest, slowest and oldest peregrino on this route in May/June ___ key is to walk at own pace
___Y no se olvide de oler las rosas a medida que avanza por el.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Glad to see your post. I will be 62 and my partner 75 next spring when we take the French route. Would like to hear more about your travels. How is the weather in April? Much rain? What were your challenges? What was your pace? We're thinking 3 months w/plenty of time for stops and extra overnights, for the 500 miles. And why German? I had assumed English (obnoxious American!!) Thanks --
