Hi everyone
Anne here from Perth West Australia. My friend, Paula, her daughter, Rikki and I walked the Camino from SJPP to Santiago in October 2003. We took 34 days and it's all true when they say that it changes your life and that your Camino begins at the end of your walk:)
Great to be here.

Hola from perth

Hi Anne,

I too am from perth, and will be walking the path this year in October. did you find October to be a good time for the walk, as far as crowds and weather are concerned?

Josh.

Hi Josh
October was a great time to walk! We had rain, thunder and lightning on our first day from SJPP to Roncesvalles - a true baptism by fire! - but the weather was absolutely delightful thereafter. Cool in the mornings and evenings but perfect for walking during the day. The secret is to layer your clothing so that a light jacket can be easily removed as the day warms up.The real joy was that it really wasn't crowded at all and we were always able to secure a bed in a refugio. We began in SJPP on the 22 September and arrived in Santiago on the 25 October in 2003 - a total of 34 days. Total purists, we were not persuaded to catch a bus at any stage despite being urged to do so by other pilgrims. Go for it, Josh; it's a great thing to do and a great time of the year to do it!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I'm really excited to hear October is such a great time to walk. Fall is my absolute favorite season, and I can't think of a better way to walk the camino! I'm going to Madrid on Sept 4th, but now will probably postpone the start of my Camino until later on, so I can catch more of October. Thanks for the good info. Hope to see ya'll there!
