Jim (notdavid) introduction

Hello Claire (and all the other pilgrims)
This is the first time I've contributed to a bulletin board, so here goes. Along with 4 friends I shall be walking from the 4th Sept. 08. I'm hoping to persuade them to take the Camino Englese as I suspect that it will be less of a motorway than the Camino Frances. I would be very grateful of any advice/information esp. of where to stay in Ferrol on the first night. I will read as many posts as I can in the meantime.
Cheers, Jim aka notdavid.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Re: Starting my walk 27 April 2008

Hi - lot's of stuff in the Camino Ingles section of the forum. There are lots of places to stay in Ferrol - I followed the advice of a previous poster and booked what turned out to be an overpriced, chain hotel without any character. I wished I has waited to get there before finding a place.

Re: Starting my walk 27 April 2008

Hi John, Thanks for the info. I could only find a couple of hotels/pensions on the 'net and I'm sure there will be more available when we get our feet on the ground, as it were. The problem here is that my 4 companions are all ladies :( and would prefer to have a booking for our first night. Any further advice would be most welcome
Cheers, Jim

Try e mailing the Tourist Office:

oficina.turismo.ferrol@xunta.es

I am sure they will have lists. They also issue credentials ( although I didn't actually see it ) a sello and a map of the route out of Ferrol.

The (very useful and cheap ) CSJ Guide says: " Ferrol is a large, well laid out naval port city with plenty of hotels." It mentions the following hostal:

Hostal Aloya
Pardo Bajo, 28

15403 A Coruña (Ferrol)

Telf: 981351231

Fax: 981351231

Quite a few others come up searching for hoteles, hostales Ferrol.

Good luck

John
