Last minute double check. I hope I'm ready

So I'm heading out sooner than planned. Flight takes off around 10pm Tuesday from JFK. I almost have all my stuff, just missing a few things. Was hoping to get some opinions as to if I'm missing anything >.<

Only things not shown are my Moab's, camp shoes which I haven't decided what I'm taking yet, 2x pants because I haven't bought them yet :mrgreen: , and my sunglasses because Lenscrafters screwed up 4 times already. They should be ready Friday.

Hi Nismo,

Just wanted to post because I'm feeling pretty much the same as you right now! I am leaving the US on Monday but won't be starting my Walk until the 2nd of October. I think your stuff looks pretty good, very similar to my own-- the only thing I don't see that I've heard is recommended would maybe be a waterproof backpack cover? And a toothbrush :lol:

I have pretty much resigned myself to just letting go at this point and knowing that if I need anything besides what I have, I can acquire it along the way.

Hah, thanks Vagando. I have a new toothbrush I'm going to take with me, and the Sierra packs actually have a pocket at the bottom with a rain cover so I'm set there. I guess I'll have to settle with the same thing and just stop worrying haha.

I've walked in April and found a pair of light gloves very handy.
There were a few mornings that were frosty.

October may be the same.

Hi, Niso. Im new to this site. I have friends who are at this moment walking the Camino. They started off in StJdPP and before they got to Burgos had to ship most of their stuff to Madrid. They were both carrying too much. They are now down to one backpack(hubby is carrying the Mrs items in his pack) and she tells me via email( dont we live in a wondeful age?) that its still heavy!
Have a wonderful trip. I'm not going till May 2013 but am already preparing and very excited.

You know what? You are never ready til you get to the second albergue...maybe the third. But the Camino has called you, and whether you have "all the right gear or not" you WILL make it through. Just remember this formula: C + TLC + FR + OL = CAMINO Success (Compeed + Tender Loving Care + Frequent reminders + occasional lapses = Camino Success).
Throw in openness to new people, earplugs, and copious wine and you are well on your way! Buen Camino...what an adventure you have in front of you. One way or another, it WILL change your life!

The guide is heavy so I dismount the book and rip the pages that I will need - it will be half the weight...
Also no pillow and no camelbak only 2 half litre bottles I buy everyday and discard as they are empty.

I do carry some medicines and some toiletry I cant´see on your photo.
Also sandals - you will want them for taking a shower and walking in the albergues. I also have a pair of timberland sandal - I walk with them on sunny days because I have sensitive foot

Ah yes, toiletries and medicines are minimal, and going in a small dry bag. I did leave out my camp shoes because I haven't decided what to take yet. I honestly cannot wear sandals, crocs, or anything of that nature so I'll probably end up bringing a pair of Nike's that I wear normally around here. I weighed the pack in the configuration shown above and I'm looking at about 12lbs. Hoping to not exceed 15...fingers crossed :mrgreen:

You can use the shemagh as a pillow cover; so no need to take a pillow.

I like the Camelbak-type bladders, as it makes it easier to stay hydrated. Might want to carry an empty water bottle in the side pocket, as that's much easier to fill up during the day.

No need for gloves, just wear socks over your hands if the morning is chilly.

And I second the earplugs vote!
