Hey,

I am walking from Leon to Santiago in April. Does anyone know where I can leave my big backpack?? Are there lockers at train stations?? At Leon or Madrid??

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks Ilona

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
You can post your pack Lista Correos (Post Restante) to Saintiago.
You will have to show your passport or ID when you collect your parcel so write your name on the package as it appears in your document. The cost is about €13 for 20kg

When I sent some excess gear from Najera, the post office folks wrote "Peregrino" next to my name on the address form. I think that's a good idea, so that the Santiago post office knows that you are on your way to get your stuff.

Also, I've heard different accounts, but the post office may hold it for only 30 days, so keep that in mind for your walking timetable. And from what I remember, the Santiago post office closed early on Saturdays (around 2PM), and was closed on Sunday...another thing to remember for pickup and departure planning...

Most Correos (not in small towns) are open from 8h30 – 20h30 on working days and 09h30 – 14h00 on Saturdays.
Last year we contacted the Correos and they assured us that they will keep parcels for 2 months. I think they are pretty clued up about the Lista Correos parcels sent to Santiago!
