Levante in April/May

Hi. I'm Fergal from Ireland and I'm walking part of the Levante from Moixent to Avila starting tomorrow. Another retired teacher Tony is joining me for the first 2 weeks. I'm wondering if anyone else will be walking our Way over the next few weeks. We've both done a number of Caminos and like the idea of doing one that's not overcrowded but that's not totally deserted either !

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hope you have a great walk, and keep us posted,. It's so fun to follow along with others and hear their experience. Buen camino!

Hi everyone (anyone). We've been having a very enjoyable time. We started by avoiding the walk thru' Valencia's industrial areas and took a cheap train to Moixent. Well not exactly Moixent - the train stopped and no one told us there was a connecting bus that you had to take instantly ( because of rail repairs) so we had to wait an hour for the next one. Only 18k to first stop so gentle breaking in. Have been averaging over 30k a day since much of it unvarying. Have met 3 peregrinos only and no cyclists. Accomodation mainly hostals and up around the €40 average for 2 people which is up a lot on the forum accounts I read. Much bigger towns than on La Lana but scenery or wildlife not as interesting. Deportivos mostly available but am told that albergues are more numerous after Toledo. We did end up a couple of times on Surreste due to unclear yellow arrows (would amigos Please put name of Camino on signs leaving Minaya) Thankfully the way we went ended up being shorter ! The bartenders have been brilliant - one even drove us to Casa Rural ! Weather has been better than forecast - low 20's and hatdly a drop of rain. St. James has been watching over us. I left my camera behind me but I'd no sooner realised this than a beeping car horn and a smiling barman reunited us. Another 11 or 12 days to Zamora !20180428_111503.jpg20180429_105754.jpg20180502_085353.jpg20180503_184604.jpg20180503_185821.jpg20180504_104310.jpg20180505_101456.jpg

I haven't yet, but am considering it or maybe the Lana for my next one. Those pictures look amazing. How are the deportivos? So wonderful you got your camera back. If you don't think 3 peregrinos is deserted, I bet you have done some lonely ones!

Haven't stayed in too many deportivos but did "sleep" on the floor last night in Hernansancho between Avila and Aréval and wouldn't recommend it ! Opted for mixture of hostals and albergues cause there's nothing worse than facing a 30k - plus day with stiff legs, a cold shower and blisters ! Toledo was very crowded but a friend of my walking mate picked us up and we stayed in her place for a nice relaxing night.
On my ownsome since and hardest day was walk into Avila from Cebreros with 2 big climbs and a missed rt. turn at top of first climb that added at least an hour to what was eventually marathon distance. Still have 3 Ă— 30 km stages before I reach Zamora midweek. Rain has kept away but some mornings have been frillo !
