Lourdes to St Jean Pied de Port

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino France 2015 considering now Camino del Norte or Portuguese 2017
I am thinking about walking from Lourdes to St Jean Pied de Port then cycling Frances in Sept 2018. Having walked Camino Frances twice i have heard this walk from Lourdes to St Jean would be a nice addition. Does anyone have any feed back on the walk from Lourdes, is it really remote at this time of year, will there be other pilgrims walking ? Is the walk more strenuous than crossing the Pyrenees from St Jean Pied de Port to Ronsavalles ?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Consider Lourdes to the Camino Aragonés, then hook into the Camino Frances! A previous poster in the CA forum says it’s a better walk than to SJPP and you’ll get to see a new part of Spain.
thank you i will look into this :)

It is always quiet and remote, and September will be the end of the season. There are not as many seasonal closings as on the Camino Frances, so you will be able to find a bed and food. Bon chemin.
Hi Falcon269, I walked from Lourdes to SdC in Sept 2016. It added 7 days compared with starting in SJPdP. It was definitely quiet but I did not feel as if it was remote. It is certainly neither wild not strenuous. It is a lovely walk, very green, with lovely villages and little towns with old churches (much like the rest of the Camino). The farm dogs are not as sleepy and careless as the ones I encountered in Spain though! I don't know your reasons for walking the Camino, but in my case, I thought it would be great to link two of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the world... for whatever is worth. Bon Courage!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Lourdes to SJPP is great -- you might meet some pilgrims between Lourdes and Oloron, then likely either fewer or none between Oloron and SJPP.

I've walked Lourdes to Pamplona down the Aragones route from Jaca.
It's a spectacular walk!
I have a blog if you'd like to see the photos.
