Camino Leon to Santiago October 2019
We would like to go up to Monte Santa Tregla to see the archiological site, church and view but I do not want to add the 7.2 rt KM to our day (and especially walk the downhill). Does anyone have experience with taxi's from the Cultural Center? The Cultural Center appears to be on the Camino route and at the bottom of the hill - but I'm not sure.
If yes were they did you have to call? And how much time did you spend on top of the mountain? Did you have the taxi wait? We are a party of four traveling in May.
Thanks

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

We stayed last September at the Hotel Convento de San Benito. The front desk called a taxi for 6 of us. The driver took us up there, did a little bit of "tour guide" to explain some of the history (we had one native Portuguese speaker and another person who spoke fluent Spanish), stopped at 2 locations and waited for us the entire time. We were probably up there for 90 minutes. It was very early in the morning, but there is a hotel and a cafe, I believe, which wasn't open. I don't recall how much it was for the taxi, but it wasn't astronomical. The residents of A Guarda are very proud of Monte Santa Tegra and our hotel staff was happy to help us.

Thanks for bringing this archeological site to forum members' attention. I was entirely unaware of it. It certainly looks like an interesting site and one I too would like to explore at some future time.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Thank you JoEllen. We will be on the lookout for a taxi. We are not spending the night in AGuardia but moving on to Oia.
FYI- I did email the AG visitors office and received this response:

We are sorry to inform you that El Monte does not have any shuttle bus from the town. Yes, you can contact the taxi stand that is in the village, if they call you can pick them up at the cultural center that is indeed at the foot of the Mount and on the road route.

The contact telephone number is: 986 61 08 08

I'm sure you will enjoy it....not only the ruins, but the view from the top is phenomenal!
