Not only the albergue. When I was there (same year we walked together for a couple days,, actually, T2), the hospitalera was one of the most unpleasant persons I have met on any Camino. Will never stop there again. Also, the 'loss' of the Larrasoana municipal is actually a good thing at least IMHO. There are another one or two albergues in town.
I stayed there ONCE on my first Camino and got VERY ill as a result. The conditions were extremely unpleasant.
Always have a Plan B...

I wish that muni had been full when I arrived in 2015!When I did my Camino in 2015, the municipal was full and they directed me down the street. I was disappointed, but it was one of my best places. I had a room with about 12 other females and we had two showers in the room. At breakfast everyone introduced themselves and I had a great time - except for getting an upper bunk!
Yes, I'd like to know if these are permanent closures. I'll be there in about a month, and I'd rather not be surprised by finding no room at the inn when I reach Zubiri and LarrasoañaIt would be useful to know if these closures were just for a night or two - sometimes due to need for bedbug treatment, or because the hospitaleros are ill, for example - or whether they are closed indefinitely.
That’s what happens when you walk fastI wish that muni had been full when I arrived in 2015!
Chin up, Tinca. There are still some of us who would be content to sleep under a church porch if we had to.as Pilgs have got more particular
Larrasoana used to have a certain renown for the occasions when the portico of San Nicholas was opened for the sleeping of Pilgrims. Bedded down on whatever kind of mattress could be found spare around the town. And for Pilgrims fed on whatever the good wives of the town could raise. Sad to see how the towns reputation has slipped as Pilgs have got more particular
The locals still let you sleep in the sports hall in Larrasoana if you ask nicely! Steel walled, concrete floored zeppelin hangar type thing. No nothing - water, showers etc! Freezing cold even on summer nights. Slept in there a few times now due to staying in the pub with the locals after pilgrim beddy bye time. Good sleeping bag and a roll mat = bliss. Had some good nights in there. Then breakfast at the 'mad mans' (forgot his name) supermarket up the road listening to Jimmy Hendrix.
A man after my own heart, stay in the pub til the craic goes from 90 to 30
Mad Man - sounds like Angel (seriously).
The pub followed by sleeping in the sports hall is better than sleeping in Larrasoana Municipal! Plus, the locals are friendly too! One night a young couple brought in their newborn baby girl, locals went ga ga as Spanish do with kids. I was very suprised and delighted when the babe got passed to me too!

I like Albergue San Nicolás in Larrasoaña.Is the municipal Alberque in Larrasoaina still closed . This was not my favourite Alberque to say the least but it was only one night .I start my 2nd CF in September and am planning on stopping there again as it fits in with my plans.
If it is closed will it be opened again this year ?
No reports on the forum. It was reported it would re-open in August. Perhaps any members passing would like to check and report.Anyone know if the municipal albergue in Zubiri is open?
I started out from SJPdP mid Holy week in 2017. We had made reservations a month ahead covering the few days until after Easter. Glad we did. Stopping in Zubiri for a snack we saw a huge busload of pilgrims being taken "somewhere" as the whole town was "completo"! I heard someone on the forum say they had to sleep on a park bench in Pamplona!
EDIT- Ha..I mean just one person...not the whole busload!
Sorry, I didn’t see this until today. It was right over the bridge, the first right turn. Almost immediately. Pretty nondescript. 12 females in one room with two, full bathrooms. Other rooms had both male and female. No idea what they looked like. Dinner was great. I hope this isn’t too late for you.Hey Bonita,
being curious about the name of the albuerge you stayed in. Could you please tell me? Thanks a lot, Muriel

Does anyone know if these two are open now, in September?
