Museo do Pobo Galego (Museum of Galician People)

Before my upcomming assault on Santiago, I am going through my old albums, yes I love photo albums and...ah...well...that is...easy lad, cannot appreciate Picasa or other attempts at electronic photo storage. This popped up: the Museo do Pobo Galego (Museum of Galician People). Always full of school children a bit dusty/musty here and there, not enough info but - THE STAIRCASE -!!! The museum is worth a visit if only for the staircase, an architectural wonder. San Domingos de Bonaval, s/n

Absolutely agree - except for the school children bit. We had the whole place to ourselves (I guess if you were there when we were you'd have thought it was full of school children!!)
It is the only staircase we have ever got lost on.

Always been a great delight of mine have triple staircases. Well, any type of staircase that is different than the norm. Even the one at Hogwarts. Now that was cool. And those optical illusion ones that never end.

Oh yes - this is a wonderful museum (including the spectacular staircase!) - fascinating insights into Galician history and culture. Highly recommended! The text describing the displays is mostly in Galego, and the day we were there they had run out of the English language version they normally have, but it didn't matter - the exhibits speak for themselves.

I found this an informative place to answer the many questions I had about Galicia as I walked up and down through it. In 2011 I had a great conversation about braga with the receptionist, and I too was amazed by the triple staircase. Here's my photo.

I´m from rural Galicia and because my age most things exhibited in the museum are familiar to me.
But I think that also could be interesting for many people.
As an example, there you can learn everything you always wanted to know about horreos and were afraid to ask.

Has this now been re-opened? Last year in October when we went looking it was closed and we were told it was being re-located. On reflection I may be confused, and talking about the pilgrims museum?

Tools for fishing are exhibited. And maybe there are also for pulpo .
