Muxia bus to Santiago

Hello Pilgrims, I could use your input. We would like to take a bus from Muxia going to Santiago on Oct 10. We were told that we could only buy this ticket in advance by accessing Monbus website. I did this and entered my request for 3 adult one way tickets from Muxia back to Santiago. There were no options provided even though I know there are three buses a day going back to Santiago. I don’t know if this means all the buses are filled or if it means I have to buy my bus ticket at the Muxia bus station. Also, if all the buses are sold out, how do I arrange for a taxi to pick us up and take us back? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Best regards,
Maryanne

Hi @Natique2 ,
I just pulled up the Monbus site and it is showing seats available on all three buses at 6:15 a.m., 3:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. You can buy a ticket from the driver (or at least you could earlier this year) but passengers with pre-purchased tickets were seated before tickets were sold by the driver.
Janet

edit: there is no bus station in Muxia. Only the bus stop. You buy tickets from the driver or in advance online.

Are you trying to use the website in translated mode? If so that is the root of your problem. The calendar widget doesn’t translate. Practice enough Spanish/ Galician to buy a bus ticket and you’ll be fine. There are a couple of ticket sellers close to the bus stop that’ll sell you a ticket but this time of year you’ll likely just need to pay the bus driver. It’s a local service used by local people; and pilgrims

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I also used the website, but I didn't translate it. It took me two tries, but I bought a round trip from SdC to Muxia. OTOH, two Irish guys couldn't get the website to work (something about a discount not being selected), but they bought from the driver of the 0615 bus well enough. It was a little tight, but they got on.

This was Oct 1-2

I noticed that - there's an option to choose a type of discount or no discount, and if you don't choose anything you can't continue. It's not very obvious if you know you don't qualify for a discount.

i bought a ticket from the driver in early July. I had no trouble getting on as the bus was not anywhere near full.
