Hi there I am a Latvian girl, I am 24 and I am thinking about doing the journey, Camino the Santiago by myself, can't afford to do it this year but thinking about next year , a year to plan and think about everything, I read amazing article and I wanted to know how is to travel by yourself all that journey, Is Spanish language very important on the road ? Where do actually begin? Find my own pathway? How much does It cost, I will appreciate any answer, I am very excited already if I could walk it now I would 100% ImageUploadedByCamino de Santiago Forum1403019296.894203.jpg

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
You can begin many places. Starting in St. Jean Pied de Port, you cross the Pyrenees. From Latvia you can take the train through Bayonne to SJPdP.

A budget of 30E per day is typical, but many spend less.

If Spanish were important, I never would have made it! Language skills are nice to have, but not essential.

The route is well marked with yellow arrows, so you do not need to find your own way unless you want to.

Buen camino!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Yeah I was thinking about doing it earlier, all depends on work, studies and time and managing that things that I need to bring with me.

Hi Annija,
Welcome to the forum and enjoy the time you bring with us!

Some answers to your questions:
Spanish is not necessary (I'm a living example...), but it will help. Even more if you consider to walk a less used camino than the frances.
You can start from anywhere, inclusive your home: it was historically the starting point of everybody, before some smart guys invented cars, trains and planes.
Today, your starting point will mostly depend of which camino you want to walk and the available time to walk it...
At least in Spain (and on most ways in France) you don't need to find you own path, the way is well described in plenty of books and on the Camino Frances, there is yellow arrows every 100 m.
The caminos are going through the central north of Spain, where the climate is "continental": it can be very hot in summer and quite cold in winter: as Falcon269 wrote, Spring and Autumn are usually nicer to walk.
The budget will be difficult to bring under 20 € a day, but you can raise it to 100 if you are fortunate enough ;-)

Buen Camino, Jacques-D.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Sveika, Annij!
