Need to postpone June Camino. Wait or go in August?,

Time of past OR future Camino

Hi wonderful forum people,
It looks like I will have to postpone my highly anticipated June
Camino because of a flare up of an old foot injury. Because of my teaching work, June is the best month in my schedule. I had originally ruled out July and Aug. because of the heat and crowds and reading so many forum comments. Now I am considering doing the Camino starting Aug. 15th to Sept 15 ish. I may need to start in Pamplona or even further west as I want to go slowly.

I know June would be a nicer time, but waiting a whole year seems like so long and my heart and mind are so ready. My 55th birthday is in Sept. and I thought it would be a good time. Also, next June my son (God willing) may be graduating college and I can't miss that.

I would love to hear the thoughts of those who have done either or both times. I want to take it slowly and not feel like I need to push to get to the next town for an albergue. Also, I love summer and sun, but I don't do well if it is uncomfortably hot/ mid to high 90'sF. I REALLY want to go soon. Is it crazy of me to think of going in August when so many say it is unpleasant? And it would be a week shorter than planned.

Also any advice on where to start if I want to go slowly and have about 32 days walking?

audge,

I'm sorry to hear about your foot injury. I would suggest making a go of it in August if your foot holds up. I walked in August this past summer and really enjoyed my experience. It wasn't overly crowded, and the heat was tolerable. Mind you, I live in Southern California, so my idea of heat could be different. In the end, I hear the camino will reveal it's beauty in all seasons. Some offer more challenges than others, but I wouldn't let it deter you.

Buen camino and good luck!
