New easyJet services from Madrid

easyJet have now confirmed the report Ivar posted on the main site a couple of weeks ago. Flights between Madrid and Corunna, Oviedo and Toulouse (amongst other places) start Feb 16.

Unusually, Ryanair is also starting a service from Barajas, with Dublin, in February. Ryanair generally sticks to smaller (read, cheap) airports.

With the new Terminal 4 in Madrid (that is almost like a new airport on its own), I have a feeling that there is a lot of capacity available there now....

...and therefore maybe the Madrid airport is not so expensive anymore?

yes, I did read somewhere that slots in the 'old' terminals are much cheaper than those in the new one. And, of course, if you want to serve the large market in the centre of Spain, there's not really any alternative to Barajas.

Voz de Galicia reports that easyJet are not continuing the Madrid-Corunna service in their summer timetable.
