New member - Camino in March or February

New forum member here. Retired, 66, doing walks and backpacking. I wanted to do the less congested Camino, so the Mozarabes from Almeria looks suitable. It appears to have become more popular.

I'm thinking of March but it seems possible throughout the year, so may begin in February.

I amdoing the Portuges. Hope to meet you somewhere along the way. Same age, same time frame as you. Looking to start approximately March 23rd or so from Lisbon.

The Mozarabes is a good one to walk if you want the solitude in the day. Being able to meet folk at albergues and stopping points.

Whilst some stages have villages with cafes and shops, there are stages without anything in between. And some have water points along the route.

If you start at dawn its still cool and you can do much of the walk by midday. Some sections are nicely shaded by hillside and forest. After Cordoba the terrain is more arable, and exposed to the sun.

Mostly the walking surface is firm, farm tracks with a gravel of mixed ballast, sand and fine soil dust. When wet the dust forms into a sticky sludge on your boots. But you still need to watch every step. Ascents and descents are not exhausting, dont last long, and soon turn into easier contouring around hillsides. But they are enough to test your footwear and feet.

In March/April it was very hot by 2pm till 6pm. But also cool breezes blew in the day, so some relief comes. If lucky, a cloudy day could let you do two stages quite easily.
