I'm from just off Hadrian's Wall in England and walking from Seville. Now in Merida after just under a week - the Roman remains here make our's look a little puny!
Hi Alan,
I'm glad to hear`it's going well. I was in Merida 2 weeks ago but I had to stop at Canaveral due to an ankle injury. Some of your photos are very similar to mine. Yes, some of those stages are very long and I found the one from Alcuescar to Caceres particularly hard as the last two hours are steeper and rockier than the Cicerone guide indicated and it can be tricky navigating into Caceres. Try and get a street plan off of Google and make sure you know where the hostals are (the locals didn't). Would recommend the hostal near the centre of the old town and not the municipal alburgue which is further out and a little bleak. If I had known better I would have stayed at Valdesayor and done the last 15km to Caceres the next day. My blog is at http://www.spanishfootsteps.blogspot.com
Good luck,
Hi, Alan,
Thanks for the link to your blog, I will read it with interest.
I think you will be surprised by the amount of internet availability there is -- I walked in May, and in response to several questions about internet access from other forum members, I put together this list of places I found internet. It's not an exhaustive list but, I hope it is of use to you.
Greetings to all.
