I am also starting from Seville on April 10th. From what I have been reading from blogs of people walking now is that the water level has now dropped to a manageable (but muddy) level. Also, just to one side some friends of the way have laid some planks/logs for a mud free crossing. Most likely see you on the way! Buen Camino!
Good to know and thanks for relaying the info !!I am also starting from Seville on April 10th. First day if you walk from Sevilla to Guillena, second if you stop in Santiponce. It's 4-5km before Guillena. It is now not a problem because of planks that were put down by the Associacion, and the forecast is for splendid weather for the next while, so it should only get dryer. Can someone tell me on what stage is that annoying creek?
Hello, I will start the VdlP on April, 10 right from Sevilla and the cathedral. Looking at many sites I am wonedering if somebody knows the actauak status of the crossing of the arroyo de los molinos. Seems as if this one might cause a tedious detour.[/QUOTE
Hi, I am on the VDLP right now. We crossed the Rio on our first day of walking. A tip..... If you can see the bollards to the left and the right of the Road you can get across. We took our pants, shoes and socks off. Tied pants around our neck and with our stick waded through. The highest part is close to the left side bollards. It's a bit rough and stoney but take it slow feeling with your stick first. I did it with bare feet. It had been raining for a week before
We went through. Oh .....we threw a little bit of tissue in to check it wasn't running so fast it could wash us over. It hardly moved.
Remember stay to the left. Good luck.
Thanks! I am picking up the VDLP at Villafranca de los Barros on the 15th, so I would have crossed it in a drier state 3 years ago, I don't remember it TBH. I do remember wonderful Pilar in Guillena - I adored that lady! Such grace and kindness. Give her a kiss from me if any of you are there.First day if you walk from Sevilla to Guillena, second if you stop in Santiponce. It's 4-5km before Guillena. Peter from Germany was there replacing Pilar for a few months, giving her a bit of rest. Thanks! Hey NicP - you're the doc from Chch, right? We met in, or just before Baños I think. I'm back in Wellington now - missing the Camino...I'm am envious of all you fabulous people.... a year ago today I started out from Seville. It was a fantastic experience - I hope your journey is as rewarding as mine was. Buen Camino!
Carel5, your google map is a great resource but it shows only the first stage. How does one access all the stages? If water levels really turn bad, there is now a signposted alternative avoiding the Arroyo de los Molinos.

Thank you, Carel5, for sharing all the links. This looks like a really nice site, and I'll be referring to it during my walk. Best wishes for your walk next year. Here is the website. https://viadelaplataelcamino.blogspot.nl/

It is in Spanish, but the maps are clear. Sadly, the maker is still busy. It is ready till Carcaboso so still a long way to go to Santiago.
But there are a lot of data: distances, river crossings, points of attention, albergues, and so on.
The site also has stage descriptions (alas, in Spanish) and information on albergues.

Also this part is not yet ready.
There is also a Facebook page.

As I postponed my Sevilla - Salamanca walk to next year (or later), I hope that webmaster Antonio then will be ready with his good work.
