I am in the very begining stages of thinking about doing the pilgramage. I happen to be a pretty roll with the punches type and usually don't really plan anything. I am thinking I'll just show up, follow the flags and trust in the world to take care of the rest. If I can't find lodging is it safe(ish) to pitch a tent as a single female traveler? How much $$ should a frugal travel plan to spend? Thanks for all input!

Welcome Lisa! From what I've discovered, you should budget at least 1 Euro for every kilometer you plan to walk. There's plenty of free (donation) or cheap lodging, so you shouldn't have to worry about camping out. Which route do you plan to walk & when?

From France?? Like I say- I'm just beginning to think about the possibilities of a journey like this... It's so exciting really- I feel like I could just walk to France and start walking from there LOL!

Why not? It is said that it really starts when you walk out your front door. (Not true, happens in the head first) - I like your great attitude - you can't go wrong, just do it

 LOL I live in Mexico so at some point I guess I'll have to swim! Haha! Thank you to all who have responded you have been a great help.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Welcome lisalove.

As you've already seen you will find a wealth of info on Santiago-related cyber forums. I did, prior to my first Camino, as well as meeting cyber pilgrim friends personally on the road.

Dunno if you speak Spanish, but here's a link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygLZVIkjjyQ to what I think is a good overall intro video to the Roads, particularly the second person interviewed, Carlos Menco.

Buen Camino

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
