I am starting the Norte route July 3rd.
My wife and Daughter will be traveling also for a few days at the start.
Does anyone know of a service to take their bags from stage to stage,
particularly, Irun to San Seb and on as far as Deba.
They are not experienced walkers and I would be grateful for any help I can get
to assist the first few days walking.
They will be bussing to Bilbao and flying home after 5/6 days.

Any help appreciated.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Hi Peter
My dad and I are walking the first part of the Northern route in September. Both of us have back injuries and will need a luggage transfer. Did you find any people that provide this service?
Many thanks
Sinead

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi Sinead,

I did not use the service. I managed to keep the weight down in both of our bags.
The link provide by a previous post on this thread did give me some contacts however.
They appear to only provide this service between hotels as the alburgues are not always open when the bag is delivered.
Also the charge is added to your hotel bill and paid by the hotelier, although this may not be the case with all services.
Email some of the services in the link in the earlier post and ask about their service, the cost is quite low and it could be a good way to address your back problem.

One not of caution however, if you send your bags to a particular place then you must arrive their (Obviously) and you cannot then stop if you need to to or want to.

Hope your trip goes well and Buen Camino.

Peter

Here's an update on baggage transfer on the Camino del Norte (June 2013). I used Mikel Urriolabeitia from Transmikel. He was very reliable. He brings bags from Bilbao to Santander and, I think, as far as Llanes. He may bring them other places; email him to find out.

I was on my own so I was charged €20 for my main bag each day, although sometimes I was walking c. 40 km per day and he still charged the same. It will be cheaper if there are more of you, of course.

Mikel can be contacted at: transmikel @ hotmail.es.

Hello everyone, I will have to work digitally about every other day from Irun to SdC (bringing an iPad). What are the wifi connections like along the entire route? What about the Primitivo? Thanks.
I’m travelling to Irún today to start my Camino tomorrow morning - I’m flying to Biarritz getting in at 4pm, planning on catching the bus to Hendaye and walking to the pilgrims hostel from there...
An article on the El Correo website reporting on very high occupancy rates at the albergue in Markina on the Camino del Norte. Full almost daily...
