Camino Ingles - Oct. 2023, Porto - Oct. 2024
Hello all.

Last October I hiked the Camino Ingles and was never competing for accomodations in albergues , hotels, or hostels. I would use booking.com during breakfast and book accommodations In the village/town to which I was walking that same day.

On the coastal route In October will I find the same lack of accommodation competition, or would you recommend I book ahead of time?

I’m not picky, generally prefer hotels In the center village/town.

Thank you all for your consideration.

I walked from Valenca to Santiago at the end of September/October last year. I booked hotels on Booking.com in advance. I changed a couple on the day and there were quite a few available.

If I did it again, I would only book the first night and wing the rest. That way you have flexibility.

I walked the Inglés last October and had great difficulties towards the end because the 15th is a public holiday which last year was a Friday. Even in Santiago it was difficult during that weekend and I ended up in an Airbnb one of my daughters found for me. Mostly I try for a private room, but I could not find a single bed in an albergue in Sigueiro. The last two or three days I had to taxi to hotels miles away.
Of course Portugal does not have this national holiday - the day of “Spanishness” - but watch out for this date when you arrive in Spain.

If you are planning to walk the Central route and want to stay at Casa Fernanda (which I highly recommend), you should contact her well ahead, at least a month. Otherwise, other than weekends and holidays, it wasn't a problem on the central.
