Resigned to the fact that I will have to fly with these in checked baggage, how are they best packaged; PVC tubing, cardboard tube, box.??

Thanks for your experience gained knowledge.......

Hi Jeff, Mine fold into a small fabric case and I just put them in the side pocket of my packsac and my bag went into the luggage. Air Canada would not let me take them on board. However in Europe, you can, it is not a problem. I hope this help.
Buen Camino!

I carried mine on in Salt Lake City last year sticking out of the top of my pack by about 12" with no problem. When I flew home from Santiago I checked them in a mesh bag. Santiago/Madrid/Chicago/Salt Lake City-good as new. YMMV.

I just put them wrapped up in an old rubbish bag in a side pocket. Buen Camino, SY
