Just got our Compostellas in SJPdP yesterday. Horrible weather, snow storm, missing teens on mountain (found I believe), napoleon totally closed indefinately, lower rpoute unadvisable next few days.....many many peregrinos turned back on day one, including several who had done the camino before. One couple made it all the way to roncesvalles and then returned by taxi rather than go forward. Weather in place at least 3 days, maybe a week. So many people turning back that taxis to pamplona or roncesvalles were totally booked already today and tomorrow, hotels filling up or already full with the backlog. We took train to hendaye, waiting for train to pamplona, trying to get around the weather front.

My question is this though, our compostella does not look NEARLY big enough to fit two stamps per day )or anywhere close). Is this typical? Does one get a supplementary book? So far we only have the initial stamp`in SJpDP

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
You only really need 2 stamps a day from Sarria onwards (the last 100+ kms) to qualify for the compostella. If your credencial does get filled, just get stamps on plain paper, it will still count. :)

There are frequent opportunities to obtain a supplementary Credencial. The Albergues in Burgos and Leon spring to mind, and I believe the cathedral in Burgos (at the ticket office). There are other threads on the "two a day" question. All gloriously inconclusive. On the France's last year I collected one stamp somedays and three on others. The pilgrim office in Santiago seemed un- perturbed. General advice though is collect two a day from Sarria onwards. This is also advisable on the Santiago - Muxia - Fisterra route - though perhaps only to ensure you pop in to the cafes and bars along the route :D

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
you should be able to pick up an extra credencial del peregrino from any of the municipal albergues. just ask. also try the cathedral of santa maria la real and the municipal alberguejesus y maria in pamplona.
