Planning to start my Camino 31/10/2017
Hello pilgrims, I’m about to start my Camino Frances either tomorrow or Tuesday. But first I have to get from Pamplona to St Jean pied de port, and I believe no buses are running on Sunday’s would this be correct?

All is well. There are buses from Pamplona to SJPdP on Sunday at 14:30 or 17:30.
The info below comes courtesy of CaminoTeca which is that camino shop in Pamplona and I have no connection with them whatsoever beyond being grateful for the info they have on their website but feel obliged to give credit were credit is due.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
IF you arrive late and there are no buses then just check around, if you are lucky you will find one or more peregrinos [easy to identify with their backpacks] waiting for transportation, just get together and share a taxi to SJPP. Good luck, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

My group of four hired a taxi from Pamplona to SJPdP. The young driver drove his small car like a crazy person on that narrow winding mountainous road. I was hanging on for dear life and even screamed a few times, but he ignored my angst completely. I thought it very rude to go so fast and truly feared for our lives in a rollover or head-on crash. It was a terrible first memory to the wonderful Camino that followed.

If I choose to walk the Frances again I will only take a bus or a van size taxi from Pamplona to the SJPdP with a more mature driver.

IF you are lucky you will find the safety conscious driver giving Team Sailor [my wife and me] and another caminante a taxi ride to SJPP during a wet/foggy evening. IF you are unlucky you will find the same young driver giving Camino Chris and her group the taxi ride to SJPP! Good luck, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Yikes that must have been scary but have to tell you the bus is also a challenge. Fantastic driver. Felt in totally safe hands the entire way but oh those never ending switch back bends. And I don’t usually get car sick.

Oh yes...I forgot to mention the nausea!
