Last September we travelled by train from Astorga (just a bit further from Hospital de Orbigo) to Santander via Leon. It was a very easy journey and quite inexpensive. From memory we changed trains at Leon, with a long enough changeover to get a cup of coffee. I am sure the trip goes the opposite way to Astorga, and then maybe you could get a taxi to Hosp de Orbigo.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thank you both for responding. I don't land there till 4 on sunday evening and hope that I'll get a train that late on the sabbath.. I'm sure I'll figure it out when I get there..
In two minds whether to start in Leon or further on up the road as I only have 12 walking days and don't want to be pushing on too much?

Sounds ideal for me for a Ponferrada starting point, if you have time left over at the end you can always enjoy Santiago a few days or walk on to the coast. Buen Camino! SY

Hmmm.. I'm not so sure.. I met a lovely "Camino family!" last time and not sure if I would meet up with people if I began any later than Leon-Astorga as families will be fully formed after that!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi again, you could start from Astorga, thats about 11 days of roughly 24km each day, depending on where you find accommodation. Hope you have a wonderful trip, Buen Camino.
