Ditto what Tercile said. And from someone who should have known better, a pedicure right before walking can seriously lead to blisters!! Those callouses are there for a reason. I had too much removed (it happened in the blink of an eye at the salon!!) and ended up with blisters on the del Norte in 2014. Keep you toenails trimmed to the correct length for YOUR toes and keep the callouses tidy, but in place. Using something like Aquaphor or Vaseline or some foot balm daily will also help keep your feet in shape. Painted nails can also obscure bruising or damage to the nail bed...so also not the best of ideas. At least not at the start. I do admit to buying some polish in Astorga in 2011. Katie and I had just this urge to feel girly, so we shared a bottle of lovely purple sparkly nail polish! It was good for a laugh. By that point I knew exactly how my feet/toes were fairing in my shoes and wasn't concerned about loosing toenails. Buen Camino!!
