Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I remember I saw some photos of this one on their site. Will have to try it, but I guess after all those dusty kilometers one can feel quite odd in this kind of luxury

OK. Here we go

Roncesvalles "before" (2009). Now I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of showers/bathrooms in which I almost died (with twisted ankle as a injury before the start of Camino) on that slippery floor, but those wouldn't be sufficient to feel that fall

I'm not complaining, I'm not complaining

And after (2011) ...

I was amazed. And disappointed aswell, in a way. Hi-tech and all??? But after that long slog from St.Jean it sure felt good

Kinky, I have stayed in both places, and I really preferred the new one!
The first Camino I walked, we slept in the old facility.
Beautiful but crowded with its 100 beds full of pilgrims.
I remember I had a top bunk and cried when I came down that metal ladder to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, my feet were so painful.
But just having a bed after that slog… any bed … was great.

The cosy lounge in Tosantos and the mats. Loved it.

Hey Sab.. how did you get the smaller photos to post? I'm using Tiny Pic because my photos are too large. It won't let me upload photos otherwise.

Ok Really curious... . Hope someone gets the right answer...

Now this one...?
Not for the ones who like their privacy... but very nice hospitaleros...

PS...Annie...no clue really I just click on the thumbnail icon and it works...

Is that in Reliegos maybe? I remember almost the same "lack of privacy" there

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Hi!
I don't know whether the thread was started to post top-notch pics of albergues or not. For now I'll post some of mine, sometimes maybe more informative than aesthetic and in larger number (posted as thumbnails and not in full size), so new members could have some insight what (mostly) municipal albergues looks like. And also maybe as a conversation starters. We'll see. After all it's kind of a "sour cucumber season" (forgot the thread dealing with this term)

Here are municipals in Navarrete & Najera

Ahh Najera. Really great people but the only albergue I couldn't sleep a wink in! Top bunk in the middle of the room - every bed filled.

Of course some albergues are really topnotch when it comes to infrastructure but even more important for an albergue is the nice atmosphere, the hospitaleros and the human touches...

Heh, I'm a snorer (mostly, so I was told), but that night in Najera was really something special. I mean - 90 people in a dorm, half of them snoring, that was too much even for me But really, I was laughing all night (not loud though) to different types of snorers. So much fun!!!

Yes, certainly there are some top-notch albergues (and I intend to post some pictures of them ones too), but I was more refering to quality of photos. Never mind, guess hat's a conversation starter also

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
By the time I've slugged to Sto.Domingo de la Calzada and experienced by most of the municipal albergues so far (with repeated first 170kms to Logrono), that one was SOOOO "top-notch" for me (that was in 2011) that I couldn't bear being in there for the spare afternoon. It was simply too much comfort. Instead I was sitting in the little square in front of it. Until the evening

Sorry...slow me...

It was a gloomy day and I was dragging myself through drizzle those 15kms from Sto.Domingo. I wasn't feeling OK. In other words, I was just lazy . And I stopped for a beer and a chat with Acacio and Orietta in Viloria de la Rioja. After an hour and guided tour of their unique albergue I decided to stay overnight. Acacio was thinking for a moment because in past few days the albergue was packed but finally agreed. Anna, injured peregrina from Austria also stayed there so there were four of us at donativo dinner Orietta cooked. Yummy! We discussed all sorts of topics, from racing for beds to world politics. I was also translator from German to English and few words of Spanish and Italian (Orietta is Italian). Really very warm and lovely spent afternoon and evening.

Next day when I woke up, Anna and Acacio were gone. I took my time to prepare really slowly and talked with Orietta. I was a bit ashamed but asked Orietta if I can take some photos anyway. She told me that pictures are (and should be) in our minds, our memories, but agreed at the end. I was feeling like I'm desecrating their place and in a hurry I took a few pics.

I never use photoshop or any other kind of tool to improve my photos (only to resize them for posting) and deleting mercilessly all that I'm not satisfied with, but those from Viloria I kept. Look what pictures came out. Orietta was right! At least in this case

I'm loving this thread. These photos are bringing out much more atmosphere and making the Camino seem much more real to me than many others I've been looking at over the past year. I'm getting quite excited!

One of TOP#3 on CF for me. Casa Roja of Casa Caracol in Ages.
