Pilgrims numbers up yet again
The end of August saw records being broken again with the highest number of pilgrims recorded for the period 1 January to 31 August outside of a Holy Year.
At close of play yesterday the Pilgrims’ office in Santiago had issued a staggering 135.920 Compostelas.
This compares to 2009, the year before the last Holy Year, when in the same period 110.326 pilgrims were received.
Significantly this year by the end of August the number was greater than during the Holy Year in 2004 when 134.422 Compostelas were issued.
So, the upward trend continues.
For those who wish to look in more detail at the full analysis of the figures I have posted them here: http://www.johnniewalker-santiago.blogspot.com
