Hello Fellow pilgrims!
I am planning to start the Camino in Lourdes.. Does anyone know of any good cheap places to stay for pilgrims doing El Camino?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Lourdes is the one town in Europe where there are more hotels, hostals, pensions, chambres than there are inhabitants! Just go to the Tourism Office when you get there and they will give you a long list of places to stay.
If you want to reserve a place before you go check out the long list in the Yellow Pages

I walked from Lourdes in 2009. It is a lovely walk but whilst in France you should try to phone ahead for beds. We booked beds in the albergue in Asson and when we got there they had been given to stwo other people. Asson has one small pilgrim room with two bunk beds and a couple of mattresses. No hotel, no Inns. We ended up sleeping on matresses on the floor in the entrance hall of the school.

The Tourist Office will give you a list of accommodations by price range. You can search their webpage here:

There are five categories under Se Loger for the types of accommodations. I paid about 10E for a shared double room in a religious-type hostel.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Do check that it isn't a special event day/weekend/week.

I went there once when Pope Benedict was visiting ... any available places had doubled (yes, doubled) their rates ... I begged myself into a campsite, in a corner by the railway track (they ran at night  )
