Hi all,

Does anybody know if I can buy my scallop shell in Porto? If it's not possible then I'll send off for one. I still have my shell from the Primitivo in 2015 and my shell from the Frances last year. The urges have returned and I now need one for the Portuguese.

Buen camino

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Ian

I reckon you'd find somewhere near the cathedral in Porto. Enterprising merchants have been selling scallops to pilgrims on various Caminos since at least the 13thCentury.
It's a fine route, (or routes as there are different options from Porto) have a great Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If I recall correct from 2015, yes you can. When you go to the Cathedral shop, located to the right rear of the Cathedral for your first stamp, they sell them there I believe.

If you cannot find one at Porto before you leave, you can find them along the way. I bought a very nice one from some fellow selling conchas outside his home in one of the small villages along the way.

I hope this helps.

Buy some Coquille St Jacques from the fish counter, get a red touch up pen from Halfords.
Then you can make your own and enjoy the sea food.

Don't worry!
There are angels on the coastal path who give them happily to passengers, just be confident.
