Planning August 2015, Portuguese way
Hi I'm Deb. I am walking the Portuguese way starting 28th august 2015 in Oia. Walking 7 days to Santiago. Would love to here if there are anyone doing this around the same time.. I'm doing it the hotel way not back packing. If you have walked this last august what was the weather like?

Hi Deb, have a wonderful trip! I also stayed in a few hotels on the Portuguese route, although I was backpacking as well. Where is Oia? Do you mean Tui? I walked at the beginning of August last year. Some days it was quite hot.
Bom caminho! Jill

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi Jill, nice to hear from you. My itinerary say, Oia its on the coast. I am staying at hotel A Raina. Then I walk 25km to Baiona if that helps... Yes I thought it might be hot..
The water you get at the fountains does it taste ok?? Any hints or tips would be appreciated.. Oh should I learn the basic Portuguese terms for thank you hello etc...
Obrigardo....

The fountain water was good. There will be a sign if it is non-drinkable. Yes, definitely learn some basic Portuguese, always appreciated by the locals. For example, you would say "obrigada" for "thank you". If you are male, you would say "obrigado". Jill

Both Oia and Baiona are Beautiful as is the stretch of coast between them. We drove this in 2013. This Camino is on my list since then.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi Deb, I see you are not walking in Portugal at all, so it’s a few words of basic Spanish you need to learn, not Portuguese at all. Buen camino! Jill
