Time of past OR future Camino

My 14 yr old daughter had her Make a Wish trip last week at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. She has adjusted well to her new medication and lifestyle after her cardiac arrest 18 months ago. (She has a rare genetic heart condition called Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia or CPVT for short. We had a great time and more importantly she had an amazing trip.
On a side, I decided to try my Altra Lone Lone Peak 6s and my Wrightsock Doubly Layer Cool Mesh socks. We walked about 10-13 miles a day and zero blisters. I do need more cushion for my feet so I think I'll try the Altra Olympus' shoes and see if those feel a bit better for me.
After the chaos of Disney World haha I'll appreciate any stretches of solitude I can find on my Camino lol!

Best wishes to you both! The more cynical amongst us - myself included - have often compared the last 100km of the Camino Frances to Disneyland: overcrowded, tacky and hugely commercialised. But on the plus side it is much cheaper and the food and drink are far better! You might even be able to find a moment or two to think along the way. Ultreia!
 
@Sirron My husband has had a pair of Altra shoes and they do wear out rather quickly (at least his did). You might consider having a "new" pair for your trip if you will do much training in the pair you are wearing at home.

That's my plan. I'll just keep using the Lone Peaks I have for training. Then a few weeks prior I'll switch to the Olympus. I will try them on and make sure I like them first but just limit the miles on them!
 
I can see that. I like Disney in doses haha.
 
Before dishing out money for the more expensive Olympus - try changing out your insoles! I did that with my Lone Peaks in 2021 and it worked very well. No blisters with my sock combination. 2022 I went for the Olympus and had a couple repetitive small blisters the entire way. Thankfully they were manageable - but my feet didn't like the more stiff shoe. Anyhow - I changed my Lone Peak insoles a couple times before I found the right pair of insoles. But if rest of the shoe works - then it might be your best bet.

And glad your daughter had a great time!

I have been lucky that both my Altra shoes lasted the entire Camino with some life left in them, despite usage beforehand. First pair was more broken in than the second pair - but nice thing about the Lone Peaks is they really don't require much to break them in! I did need to with the Olympus though.
