Primitivo Albergue Closing Dates

Time of past OR future Camino
Levant from Avila 2013
I see from a recent post that some Albergue on the primitivo are closing around now. We plan to walk the Primitivo and the Verde next year in late september to mid October. Is there a list of closing dates on the forum or does Gronze have that data?

It also depends on the wave of pilgrims. If the number of pilgrims reduse suddenly, they may take the advantage to close. But you always find a place to sleep and eat.

The deeper into the winter "off season" you get, the more creative one has to be on some days to find accommodation. One technique that usually works, if at first you cannot locate an open albergue or hostal, is to stop into the local cafe / bar and ask the proprietor if they know of anyone providing lodging for pilgrims.

Clearly, this is relatively safer for a guy than for a woman traveling alone,. But, it remains a tried and true method for scoring a bed.

In most towns there are local who will gladly take in a pilgrim needing a room. They will either charge a nominal amount. Alternatively, BE GENEROUS.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bob, we walked the Primitivo and Verde this year around the same time, arrived in Santiago on the 11th and didn't see any sign of albergues closing. In fact all were quite busy and it certainly did not feel like the season was coming to an end. On the Verde from Lugo, most likely you will stay in Friol which has a pension (not an albergue) run by a very nice lady and the Sobrado monastery after that, which is where the Verde links up with the Norte. It was surprisingly busy and seemed open all year, but maybe check to be 100% sure. We continued on the alternative route to Lavacolla and avoided the Frances completely bar the last 10km to Santiago.. Everyone else on the Norte seemed to walk to Arzua as it's in the guide, but I heard it's longer and obviously very crowded..The alternative route to Lavacolla is not the most beautiful trail and has lots of road, but so does the Frances. There are no bars etc on the way to accommodate pilgrims so it might not be for everyone but it's a great alternative if you like a more quiet experience .. Buen camino

I did the Primitivo late Sept into October this year and had no difficulty with albergues and accommodation - did some hotels as well.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
As far as I know all the albergues will be open untill the end of october anyway. All the municipals will be open all year. So it shouldn't be any problem.
Also, I expect that there will be a specific list of open winter albergues on the primitivo by next year....

I have been trying to find a way to avoid the circus during the last stages of Frances. In two hours you can take the Lugo - Ourense train and walk the last stages on the Plata. Is it a good idea...
https://www.alojamientoloshospitales.com/albergue I found a link to this place in an old thread, but can't find it on WisePilgrim, the Gronze map or if I search by address. Can someone tell me...
Hi all Heading out for a meal tonight and Pilgrim mass before starting the Primitivo tomorrow. Any recommendations on where to get a great meal in Oviedo?
