Camino Frances (2013)
After several frustrating efforts over time to send private messages, I have finally found that it is relatively straightforward. Here is what works for me:

First, you need to be logged in. Then, above the little guy near to the red "'New' ...Walking to Rome Forum" (top centre) you will see "Camino Guides / Recent Posts / Private Conversations / Forum Rules." Click on 'Private Conversations." Then you will see in the top right, quite prominently set out in a rectangular box, "Start a New Conversation." Click here. You will be prompted to enter the Forum name(s) of the 'Participants,' that is the person(s) with whom you want to have your private conversation. Then in 'Conversation Title' you enter the title you wish to give your 'private' thread. Then, in the box below, you type your message; the same as you would for a regular post. Then click 'Start a Conversation' below. Voila! The person(s) to whom it is sent will receive an email from Ivar advising that a private message has been sent, so it can then be retrieved.

I believe @grayland mentioned a little envelope at the top right of the screen, but I don't see the little envelope on my screen.

Another option if you're interested in sending PM the moment you read someone's post in any of the threads:
- click on member's avatar (left by the post)
- member's box will open and under the name and description there are options colored blue in one line: Profile Page / Start a Conversation / Follow / Ignore
- click on Start a Conversation
and proceed as you've already explained in OP.

Good luck!

Ha! I did not know that. Thank you. Another question I can ask ... since we are more or less on the subject ... When one starts a new thread, there is an option to list relevant tags. When I enter what I think are appropriate tags, I oftentimes get the message that those tags don't exist, and that I am to choose from the available tags. But where do I find the list of available tags? I end up listing no tags at all ...... and my post gets accepted anyway.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

OOOPS, I think that's the question for moderators... :)

Thank you. This is a very helpful explanation. Greatly appreciated!

Another method: Once logged-in, put your mouse over "Inbox" (next to Alerts), on the upper right corner of the screen. It'll pop-up a box and you'll see in the bottom-right corner of that box "Start a new conversation", click on it and continue as you explained on the OP.

Thank you both. Who would have thought life could be so simple! :D

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

But it is not, I find it oh so difficult especially on this forum. It's so much easier when walking the Camino ;)
