Hi,
My husband Matt and I are planning a pilgrimage from Kentucky to Santiago by way of the Camino Frances. We would like to start as early in the summer as possible (we are both teachers, so we have summers basically off), but Matt has some graduate work to do in Ohio until late June, so the earliest we'll be able to get away is June 23.
We are planning to allow for 4-5 weeks, and are looking forward to the journey from a religious/emotional/physical stance. We are currently in the process of saving for the trip and figuring out how much it will cost for the two of us, provided we are sharing meals and are pretty frugal.
We are also planning on starting the actual walking in St Jean PDP. Any ideas on the most cost-effective means of getting there? We are contemplating flying from DC-->Iceland-->Paris, then taking the train from Paris to Bayonne, and then taking another train from Bayonne to SJPDP.
Thanks for any insights!
Pax et bonam,
Colleen
