Time of past OR future Camino
June(2017)
My husband and I will be hiking the last 100km the week of June 21 - 30. Is it necessary for us to make reservations ahead of time? We want to keep our schedule as open as possible so we can stop when we're ready. We are in our 60's and would like to stay in hotels or B&Bs. Any advice for that time of year would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Je ni!

Honestly, this year has already been so busy and full that it's hard to know what the end of June will be like. It used to be that July and August were the crazy months and the other months were more lightly-trafficked, but it's starting to feel like things are changing. And Sarria to Santiago will be the most crowded of all. You could at least book your very first night in Sarria, and even your second night depending on how far you think you'll walk, and then you'll have a day or two on the trail to see what actual conditions are like. You can decide from there if you need to keep booking ahead or if you can go with the flow.

And do book your hotel for Santiago already, especially if you have a place in mind. Weekends in town have been getting more and more full.

Hope this doesn't scare you off...you're asking a good question!
Enjoy all the planning and Buen Camino!
Faith
