Hi all,

I retired from the British army yesterday. Have been planning my camino fir months now and its finally here. I fly into Madrid next Wed, stay overnight then catch the bus to Burgos on the 2nd. Overnight there then I'll set off, at my own pace just chilling and reflecting on my 23 yrs in the army. Time prevents me from starting at SJDP but I'll still get 20 days on the route.

I'll be wearing a desert cam floppy hat on the trail, so if anyone sees me please say hello! Lol

Buen Camino and happy retirement! Glad you managed to keep hold of the hat! :D

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
What a wonderful way to celebrate your retirement! I am sure you will have an excellent camino and come back ready to conquer the world, which open so many new opportunities for you now. Buen Camino.

Hi Craig. Many congratulations on the retirement and the start of your walk. I also retired on the 1st May after far too many years in the NHS. I've sold my house, given away most of my belongings and my walk starts 12th June. If I see you (probably coming back the other way!) I'll definitely give you a big hello. All best wishes for the continuation of your journey after the end of the walk. Becca
