Tonight my local PBS station had a preview of a new PBS series that examines the growth of spiritual and religious pilgrimages around the world. In the video Bruce Feiler discuss various sacred journeys around the world but does not mention the CdS. However, his insights pertain to the CdS experience.

“Sacred journeys are the experience of trying to get closer to God. There is so much noise in our lives; sometimes in order to hear you have to step away from that ordinary life and open yourself to the extraordinary.”

He also mentions that what people are seeking is “a bit of quietness, a bit of discomfort and a bit of openness that allows them to hear what they are seeking.” Sounds like the CdS to me.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I watched part of last night's program too, and was impresssed with the similarities to the CdS. Many of the soldiers profiled in the story about Lourdes said many of the same things in terms of "feeling something important touching you" that I heard all along the camino. (There is probably a better way of wording this, but after reading Kanga's post about Sydney, my mind is not functioning very well.) I'm looking forward to the other episodes.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I watched the first on Lourdes and recorded the second one to watch later. I thought it was very well done. I particularly liked when one spoke of going to Lourdes for healing, not a cure.
