I have a late flight from Madrid but need to get from Santiago to Madrid, any suggestions please.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Pippa,
Next time, or this time if possible...purchase an Open Jaw ticket that way you can fly into Madrid and then begin your journey home from SdC.

I second Arn's suggestion. You may be surprised to find out how little the domestic legs add on to your international ticket. For flights to the US, there is a 9:15 flight on Iberia Express from Santiago that gets you to Madrid in time for most of the One World (mainly American, Iberia and BA) connections to the US. That eliminates the need to spend a night in Madrid and when I balance the cost out, it's frequently cheaper to fly than to take the train and have another night in a hotel plus meals.

The other advantage of flying with an open jaw ticket is that if your flight from Santiago is delayed, it's the airline's responsibility to re-route you. If you have a separate cheap Santiago to Madrid plane ticket, and you miss your flight from Madrid, it'll be your problem.

Buen camino, Laurie
