Sarria to SdC section

As a first-timer I am wandering what to expect of this shortish section.We only have a week at our disposal so this is all we have time for.But is it difficult or is it just a way in the park?

How strenuous you find the stretch between Sarria and Santiago may depend on how much experience you already have hiking. Galicia is very hilly, so many pilgrims find that trekking poles help them during these 5 days - it is a lot of up and down, especially the first day where there is a steep downhill into Portomarín. Try not to push yourself too much (i.e. don't race to the next albergue, but listen to your body and take a break when your feet start feeling hot), and you should be OK. When are you coming over? Enjoy all the planning and Buen Camino!

Depends on what parks you are used to.
It is hilly/mountainous, but a lot of the way is along ridges and not constant up and down.
It is a beautiful, rural part of Spain, with changeable weather.
Overall, a great experience! With a week to walk you should have a great time, and chances to sight see along the way.

Well,thank you very much for very helpful answers.They have already put things in perspective and I am really looking forward to Monday 8th September-the big day.Just finished buying the last of my bits and bobs so I'm raring to go.Yippee!!!

There is no hand and foot scrambling. Most of the route follows narrow roads and can be driven in a car.
 
My least favorite section of the Camino Frances, not in the context of challenge, but in terms of scenery, food, people (on and off the trail), etc... Unless you MUST walk the last 100 Kms (Compostela), I would consider other section(s) of the Camino, even other Camino(s) routes into Santiago.

That said, if Sarria- SdC is all set, Buen Camino!

Fantastic section, beautiful scenery and rural Galicia/Spain at its best and most of it off the busy roads. There will be more pilgrims and facilities which hardcore pilgrims tend to dislike. Safe, easy and fun!
