Hi everyone,
First all many thanks for the forum and your contributions. I have learnt loads and paid close attention to your suggestions about how to prevent and heal blisters. I did not know I would be that interested in that matter few months ago!i am starting at SJPP on sept 17th and hope to go as far as possible. For once I have no time constraints so I feel really lucky!
See you along the way! Celine

If you check the Camino Calendar, there are a lot of Forum members departing in September, eight on the 17th! Missing the summer madness seems to be an idea that has caught on. I hope it does not lead to bed race anxiety. Even though there is a lot of talk about difficulties finding a bed, it is a rare anecdote where someone actually cannot find one. I think you will find that September and October have the right number of fellow pilgrims, open beds, good weather, and a very pleasant walk.

Buen camino.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Speaking of "physical preparation", I am planning on doing the Camino Frances next September as a result of watching "The Way" by Emilio Estevez [about 20 times]. I loved the movie. It was very inspiring to see "Tom" [Martin Sheen] personally evolve so much throughout the journey.

I just bought my equipment so I would have plenty of time to: 1. break-in the new hiking shoes; 2. get use to carrying double the weight in my Osprey Aether 60 backpack, and; 3. get into physical shape by climbing stairs and hiking each day, increasing my mileage each week up to 12 miles per day. Also, I have Rosetta Stone for Spanish (Spain) and joined SpanishDict to prepare for communicating with the locals in Northern Spain who do not speak English.

I hope to meet folks here that are planning on going next September [2014] so we could start out the trip traveling together. One of the best parts of the movie was "Tom" inadvertently [he was quite grumpy due to grief at the beginning] forming a wonderful bond with three other peregrinos along the Camino.
