Hi,

Would anyone like to share a shuttle/taxi from Biarritz airport to saint Jean around 10/11 am on the 5th of July?:)

If not, then could anyone tell me whether it’s easy or difficult to arrange while at the airport? Do pilgrims usually get shared taxis together without previous arrangement?

Best,
Julia

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I did not want to arrive in a new/foreign place with zero French language ability and then start trying to figure out the best/cheapest way to San Jean PdP (in the middle of Public Transport Strike season) so I pre-arranged a ride with the private shuttle service below. They have 8-passenger vans and the cost per person depends on how many total passengers. If you are the only person you will pay 84 Euros, if there are 5 or more passengers you will pay 19 Euros. Call or email them. They are responsive and speak english. They will tell you how many passengers are scheduled for your time. If you need to save money and are willing to wait, ask about other shuttles later in the day that have a spot open but several seats already booked bringing the price down dramatically. You can also recruit passengers while waiting for the van to arrive. When I made my reservation (no deposit needed, you pay when you arrive in San Jean PdP) I was the only passenger. I kept checking back with them by email to see if more had signed up & eventually two others signed up. Then I recruited 2 more in the airport so we had a total of 5 and thus 19 Euros each. See instructions in website below, you need to notify the bus company with new passenger names by text before the shuttle bus arrives. There is an information desk at the airport with english speaking help, go there if having any problems with express bourricot or for arranging other transport but don't talk to them about adding passengers as this is a touchy topic with the authorities.

Hi, thanks so much your response. The problem is I already checked with that company and the earliest shuttle they have leaves more than three hours after I land:( it would be great not to have to wait that long...I’ve made some enquiries to other taxi companies, but they are private and do not arrange shared shuttles as such, I would have to find 6 other people myself.

Lot's of pilgrims will be at the airport who will also be going to SJPdP. As you make your way to the front entrance, ask those you see if they would like to share a taxi, or if they are willing to share their transportation to SJPdP with you. :)
