sleeping bag on VdlP

Kiwi-family

{Rachael, the Mama of the family}
Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
Necessary for a May/June walk with the intention to use albergues rather than other accommodations where possible???? I sleep cold so I take one even in July, but my kids are hot sleepers so they have been fine with two silk liners in the past on other routes, but I don't want them to freeze if there are not blankets available.
I've only found one post that suggested a bag is essential. Would you agree?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi there, I was waiting for other people to answer because I walked the VdlP last June/July when there was a heatwave to boot.

But....I noticed there were blankets available in some albergues. Maybe there are some in all the albergues but I don't know as we didn't need them.
If your children were fine with silk liners in other caminos, at roughly the same time, they should be ok on the VdlP?
It does get cold, around Salamanca we had a cold spell even in Mid-june, it went from 38 deg+ to 9 deg. In the evening our hospitalera lit a wood fire and we huddled round it to eat our meal.
They could always sleep with all their clothes on if particularly cold one night?

Sorry I cannot be more helpful, I always take my sleeping bag cos I sleep c-c-cold too!

The pic is from Cubo de Tierra del Vino, albergue F & M

I am firmly in the take a sleeping bag camp normally. So yes, I would take a very light weight summer sleeping bag even to the VdP in May/June. Buen Camino, SY

I carried both and used both and that was in June/July during a heatwave. Partly because I seemed to find myself in the one spot en route with cooler temps on a number of occasions.

Hi,
Do you guys think it would be possible to do the Via de la plata in Marsh with only a summer sleeping bag (confort to 10C)? And use thermal underwear as back up when it's get too cold?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Most albergues have a blanket supply but some areas I suspect are very cold in March. During that heatwave this last summer there were times the temps went down to 12 degrees in the morning. And that was in Extramadura! I think you need to check out some weather sites to get an idea of the range of temps you can get in likely spots along the way. I would expect you to feel the cold in Sanabria and Galicia - their buildings are designed for snow!
