Snowing in Pamplona - Mountains Covered

Good morning from Pamplona! Heavy snow is currently falling in the city and all around us in the mountains there is a blanket of fresh white snow. Anyone coming to Pamplona should be aware of this. Someone died recently on their way to Roncesvalles and other hikers were pulled off the mountain there by local fire and rescue teams.

Although it is April the weather is capricious and at the moment we are wading through a thick blanket of snow on the ground.

Please be aware of the current situation and if you are not comfortable with hiking in the snow then don't. By no means should you hike up the mountain from St Jean Pied de Port. You must take the road with the cars which is plowed. But of course this is dangerous too!

If you have doubts then stay away and come back in June. It is really a mess in Pamplona at the moment.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
SNOWING IN PAMPLONA -- Mountains Covered

June could be busier than usual? :( but hopefully warmer?

8 weeks does not seem very long for this weather to turn into summer:(
my back pack has just increased in weight , extra fleece and sleeping bag:

I've been watching the weather looking for signs of improvement, but it is only getting worse :(

For those currently walking, keep warm and safe, if needed it is better to take a bus/taxi than take a risk.
