I didn't know the song, but I will have my Basque friend listen to it tomorrow and see if he recognizes the song. The music / singing in the Cathedral was beautiful to me.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Martin2016! Welcome to the forum!

I don't recognize the song. In fact, although I'm a native Spanish speaker, most of the time I don't understand what they are singing although that isn't really too much of a surprise because I'm really bad at that. I don't recognize the music either. Anyway, if nobody here recognizes it, you may try to ask the Sacrum Music department of the diocese of Santiago de Compostela. You'll find their contact details at www.liturxia.com/p/secretarioado-de-musica-sacra.html

Do you know at what point in the mass it was sung? Before or after communion? During communion? Between the readings? It sounds like it could be the responsorial psalm between the readings.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I remember very well it was during the communion. do you know the song?
Thank you so much for all your help so far!!!

The nun in the cathedral
Johnnie, Please forgive me if this question has been asked before, but I have wondered more than once...
Who is this nun with the spine-tingling voice? She's such a strong presence and I missed hearing her participation in the masses when I was there in early April.

Hola - It depends when you heard her singing! The current nun who sings is Madre Victoria who is orginally from Argentina - she has been there fore about a year. Previously it was Madre Maria Asuncion.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thank you, Johnnie.
It would have been Madre Maria Asuncion. Hoping she is well, wherever she is now...she offered far more than just her voice.

She was amazing. When I arrived in Santiago on June 26, 2015, I went directly to the cathedral to find out if a pilgrim might be allowed to do the scripture reading. It was she who auditioned me and let me do it. She also sang for the swinging of the botafumeiro at the end of the Mass.
