Just booked my flight from LAX to Madrid. I guess it's one thing to read the forum, make the plans, and gather the equipment. I've been lost in the safety of planning and the details of 'how many socks to bring and and whats the weather like'. Now I have something tangible in print that says I'm going on a journey of foot and of spirit. I'll admit it, I'm a little nervous.

Hola, Mike!

Congratulations! Reading your words makes me remember what it was like for me before my first Camino in 2010. I'd been reading this forum for months, gathering equipment, and the time between my decision to walk the Camino, to my arrival in SJPP where I started from, was just about a year. Having your flight booked really makes it real in a new way! You'll be walking at a beautiful time of year (I'm somewhat biased since both my Caminos so far have been in September-October ).

As for being nervous, that's natural. But you still have lots of time to fine-tune your plans, get more used to the idea of being there, and also look forward to the surprises you're sure to encounter. It'll be amazing no matter what happens and how it plays out on your way to Santiago and beyond. I suspect you'll find that the rest will all fall into place in perfect time and you'll have everything you need. It's a beautiful thing. Enjoy!

Buen Camino!
